Day 273: Just a Colossal Waste of Ink

A Colossal Waste of InkWell, I decided to draw an animal this week after all.  This time in the choice between a random Something To Draw photo and a drawing of a black swan, the black swan won out.  None of the random photos jumped out at me today and I was more in the mood for swans today that I was yesterday.  Anyway, this one was just so cute with its little ugly ducklings.

I am, however, not sure what possessed me to waste so much ink.  It’s black.  I know.  I get it.  I know why it was that I wanted to draw a black swan.  I’m just not convinced that this was the best way to go about it.  It just looks kind of strange.  On the other hand I did want it to stand out against the ducklings.  I don’t know.

I didn’t get around to my sketching until quite late again tonight.  More bad habits and poor decision making at work there.  I decided to bake a pie after work to use up some old apples that had been sitting around in the fridge forever and were becoming questionable.  That in and of itself wasn’t too bad but then I was watching political debates, reading, wrestling with my old dying computer, trying to get it to work, and just generally getting myself distracted.  I always seem to try to cram too many things into one day.  I suppose by the time I actually got around to doing my sketch I was just too tired to make any intelligent decisions.

    1. What is this “sleep” you speak of? Is that the thing that would allow my brain to function?

I certainly should have realized that a black swan would require a lot of ink. Then again if I had thought it through I might have decided on something else instead and I’m actually quite fond of this one.
