October seems to be the month for drawing challenges. Between #Inktober and #Drawlloween, I’m pretty spoiled for choice. I doubt I’ll be able to keep up with it all but I figured I’d give it a shot at least for today. No doubt it will all fall apart tomorrow because tomorrow will be a busy enough drawing day without throwing extra challenges into the mix. We’ll see how it goes though.
The #Inktober challenge should be simple enough at least for the first couple of weeks. I have about 14 pages left in my pen sketchbook so that part shouldn’t be a problem. After that I’ll have to decide whether or not to finish out the month. I also found out about #Drawlloween today though. That seems like a pretty fun challenge with different prompts for each day of the month. Obviously I already missed the first two but today’s prompt was Goblins so I drew these two. I’m not sure how halloweeny they are and I wasn’t too happy with how they turned out but they are at least fairly gobliny.
I’ll probably end up dropping in and out of #Drawlloween. Like I said, I already missed the first two days. Also it will occasionally interfere with my other themed days. I do like some of the prompts though so I will keep it in mind and probably won’t give up on it altogether.
#DrawHalloween sounds like fun…though not so much for me to do as to see. 🙂 Your scheming goblins are definitely up to no good…I love the way you did their faces and poses!

Thank you. I used a reference photo for them to get the poses and expressions. Took me a while to find a photo of some people who I thought would make good goblins.

That’s cool that you used people photos to draw your goblins! An art director told us (at a workshop I went to) that we should always use reference photos. I need to be better about that. 🙂

Yes, I’ve heard that too. I’m pretty good about it entirely through necessity. When I draw something without a reference the results are not pretty … I mean even more not pretty …

LOL! You’re way too hard on yourself. 🙂

Lol, that may be … but I just really didn’t like how these goblins turned out … and that was with a reference photo so I’d hate to think how they would have turned out without one.

That’s a lesson for me, too! I can imagine how much better a drawing of mine could turn out if I use a ref photo for it. 🙂
