I had a fun day out today. It involved fireworks and All You Can Eat Sushi and, of course, another very late night. All in all I can’t say it wasn’t worth it but I am completely and utterly exhausted. My body has developed a firm routine. I wake up early regardless of when I go to sleep. In some ways that’s good but it does make late nights doubly rough, especially on weekends when I could otherwise sleep in.
Anyway, in some desperate attempt to curtail how late I might stay up tonight my husband offered to be a model for today’s sketch. We both figured that my best bet was to do the sketch on the train ride home. Sadly there weren’t too many obliging models so my devoted husband made the sacrifice for both our sakes. In exchange I tried not to butcher it too badly. I think it actually went about as well as could be expected. I bought fresh ink for my pen today which was nice but threw me off a bit. I’m just not used to the ink flowing so easily anymore. Maybe it wouldn’t have been as much of an issue if the train hadn’t been jerking around so much. Definitely not the most stable train ride ever. I didn’t bother trying to shade this one but all things considered I think it’s fine as is.
Good work! My wife is not a happy model and I draw so badly that I don’t even attempt it. But you’ve done good. Congratulate him, please. Great image! Pen and ink on paper?

Yep, this one was just drawn with my pen in my sketchbook. It’s definitely nice to have such an obliging model and I’m glad I managed not to butcher it despite the train’s best efforts.

Thank you, the hair was what I started with.

Granted I don’t know what your husband looks like but I think this probably captured him quite well! Honestly, I can draw myself relatively well, but I cannot for the life of me draw my hubby. π
And, mmmmmm….sushi!

Surprisingly I think you’re right. I did capture him fairly well, simple as it is. I suppose maybe I have the opposite problem. I seem to do much better at drawing my husband than myself anyway.

LOL! Well, it’s good to excel at something, whether it’s drawing your hubby or yourself. π
