Day 137: The First of the Watercolour Hands

The First Watercolour Hand SketchI’m back to my regularly scheduled Sunday hand sketches now!  Last week was a lapse but now I’m good again.  So for the next several weeks I’ll be doing these new watercolour hand sketches.  I’ll have to try to think of some fun ways to make them more interesting.

Today’s hand sketch was a bit of an experiment with a different method of colouring.  I’m still trying to get a better handle on how to create a nice blend of colours.  I think it worked out not too badly except that my watercolour sketchbook doesn’t exactly have the highest quality paper.  It started flaking and rubbing away partway through the painting process.

That’s not the first time that’s happened either.  I think next time I will have to remember to take more frequent breaks to allow the paper to dry a bit before applying more paint.  It’s not exactly the more efficient or effective process but we have to play the hands we’re dealt.
